Owasys and the ONCE conclude the development of mobile telephones designed for persons who are visually impaired
The company Owasys Advanced Wireless Devices (Owasys) has signed a collaboration agreement with the Spanish National Organization for the Blind (ONCE) to develop mobile telephones designed for the visually impaired. As a result, Owasys is in the last execution phase of the Research and Development project in collaboration with the ONCE/CIDAT (Center for Research, Development and Typhlotechnical Application) that will conclude this year with the design and high-volume production of a mobile telephone specially conceived for persons who are visually impaired.
This collaboration between Owasys and the ONCE is possible thanks to the social work carried out by the ONCE - which wagers on initiatives that help to improve the quality of life of its associates – and the involvement of Owasys as manufacturer specialized in this type of devices. The company was created last year by 35 persons with broad experience in the Ericsson BTC-Bilbao Technology Center. For more than 15 years, these persons have worked with the largest telecommunication manufacturers worldwide. Since its creation, Owasys has worked with the ONCE in the development of telephones designed for specific sectors.
Therefore, thanks to this previous research, the Owasys mobile telephones will be endowed with noteworthy features to satisfy the communication needs of the visually impaired community.
