Owasys enters into a distribution agreement with 2001 Wireless for marketing mobile communications in the UK and Ireland.

Bilbao, September 2003.- Telecommunication firm, Owasys Advanced Wireless Devices -Owasys-, has entered into an agreement with the firm 2001 Wireless for marketing mobile communications in the UK 2001 is a leading component and subsystems distributor servicing the industrial market with more than 15 years experience in bringing high technology products to UK electronic OEM’s. The agreement with Owasys is just one of a number of specialist wireless product lines represented by 2001’s dedicated division of ‘2001 Wireless.’ This agreement aims at securing the presence of Owasys products in the British market, relying on the expertise of a firm mainly dedicated to mobile communication distribution.
Today, Owasys –located at Parque Tecnológico de Bizkaia- already counts with a distribution network on an international level: Spain, Portugal, U.K, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and France and dealers in Holland and Belgium.
Under this framework, Owasys designs, manufactures and sells wireless communication equipment for markets not covered by other manufacturers. The company’s added value resides in a deep knowledge of machine to machine -M2M- communication market and also in its drive.
The company works for the automotive sector (fleet management, AVL- automatic vehicle location and on board telematic nodes) and the industrial sector (integrated equipment for interconnecting industrial environments) as well as the consumer sector (terminals for end users with specific needs).
DISTRIBUTED PRODUCTS
Entering into this agreement means, that 2001 will distribute a number of Owasys terminals, oriented to the M2M market, to the industrial and automotive sectors.
Products to be distributed under this agreement are products of the family owa2X, including a complete range of solutions for the M2M market.
The owa22A has been designed for automotive and fleet management sectors, and on the other hand, owa22I focuses more intensively on the industrial sector, remote control and scattered machinery monitoring (both with developing kit).
This way, both terminals integrate GSM/GPRS communications and GPS location, providing an efficient transmission of information through the mobile telephone network. This family of products provides hardware for fast application development such as fleet management, on-board communication equipment, security and alarms, vending machines, etc.
OWASYS
Owasys achievements in the last 10 months are worth mentioning. In October 2002 the company was accepted as a member of Bluetooth TM Car Working Group - Bluetooth TM Interest Group, important international standardisation panel. In December 2002 the company acquired a 10% stake in P4Q Electronics, one of the leading companies for the manufacturing of boards and electronic products in Spain.
