Owasys enters into a distribution agreement with Telcom S.A. for marketing mobile communications in Spain

• This agreement implies that Telcom S.A. will distribute Owasys high technology terminals for the industrial and automotive sectors.

Bilbao, 9th September 2003.- Telecommunication firm, Owasys Advanced Wireless Devices -Owasys-, has entered into an agreement with the firm Telcom S.A., for marketing mobile communications in Spain. Presently, Telcom –a leading company in the telecommunication market with more than 30 years experience- works with leading radio communication makes in the market. This agreement aims at securing the presence of Owasys products in the Spanish market, relying on the expertise of a firm mainly dedicated to mobile communication distribution.
Today, Owasys –located at Parque Tecnológico de Bizkaia- already counts with a distribution network on an international level: U.K, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and France and dealers in Holland and Belgium.
Under this framework, Owasys designs, manufactures and sells wireless communication equipment for markets not covered by other manufacturers. The company’s added value resides in a deep knowledge of machine to machine -M2M- communication market and also in its drive.
The company works for the automotive sector (fleet management, AVL- automatic vehicle location and on board telematic nodes) and the industrial sector ( integrated equipment for interconnecting industrial environments) as well as the consumer sector (terminals for end users with specific needs).

DISTRIBUTED PRODUCTS

Entering into this agreement means, on a national level, that Telcom SA will distribute a number of Owasys terminals, oriented to the M2M market, to the industrial and automotive sectors. An event / presentation of the agreement between both companies and the range of their products and solutions will be held on September 24th, at Madrid, addressed to all system integrating bodies capable of developing mobile applications.
Products to be distributed under this agreement are products of the family owa2X, including a complete range of solutions for the M2M market.
On the one hand, owa22A has been designed for automotive and fleet management sectors, and on the other hand, owa22I focuses more intensively on the industrial sector, remote control and scattered machinery monitoring (both with developing kit).
This way, both terminals integrate GSM/GPRS communications and GPS location, providing an efficient transmission of information through the mobile telephone network. This family of products provides hardware for fast application development such as fleet management, on-board communication equipment, security and alarms, vending machines, etc.

OWASYS

Owasys achievements in the last 10 months are worth mentioning. In October 2002 the company was accepted as a member of Bluetooth TM Car Working Group - Bluetooth TM Interest Group, important international standardisation panel. In December 2002 the company acquired a 10% stake in P4Q Electronics, one of the leading companies for the manufacturing of boards and electronic products in Spain. Apart from Spain and Portugal, the company has entered into collaboration agreements with distributors in U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France and dealers in Holland and Belgium.
Among their latest milestones, are the collaboration agreement entered with Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España (ONCE) – Spanish National Organisation for the Blind - for the development of mobile telephones designed for eye-handicapped people, and the certification of their Quality Management System according to standard UNE-EN ISO 9001:2000. Also, Owasys holds a capital stock of 2,700,000 euros and aims at reaching a payroll of 55 people in 2005.
